Wedding Day Stationery: Everything You Need to Know
When planning your wedding, most of the attention naturally goes to pre-wedding stationery. While these are incredibly important, it often means that on-the-day stationery gets pushed further down the priority list.
In reality, wedding day stationery plays a huge role in how your celebration looks, feels, and flows.
What Is On-the-Day Stationery?
On-the-day stationery refers to any printed items you’ll use during your actual wedding day. This can include everything from welcome signs and seating plans to menus, table numbers.
Although it can sometimes feel like an afterthought, on-the-day stationery is just as important as your invitations. These pieces appear in many of your wedding photos and help tie all of your styling together, creating a cohesive and polished look throughout the day.
Below is a list of common wedding day stationery items. You may not need all of them, but this guide will help you understand what’s available and decide what works best for your celebration.
Seating Plan
If your wedding includes table seating, the seating plan is arguably the most important piece of stationery on the day. It guides your guests smoothly to their seats and helps the event run effortlessly.
One key consideration is size—your seating plan should be large enough for guests to easily read their names. For weddings with a few hundred guests, we recommend using two separate boards, splitting the guest list evenly. This prevents large crowds forming around a single display and keeps things moving comfortably.
Welcome Sign
Your welcome sign sets the tone for the entire event. It’s usually the very first thing guests see when they arrive at the venue, making it a great opportunity to introduce your wedding style.
The size of your welcome sign should suit the scale of the venue, but we generally recommend not going smaller than A2 (420 × 594 mm). Design-wise, welcome signs are often kept minimal, but they’re a beautiful way to carry through design elements from your invitations.
If you’ve ordered other stationery from us—such as wedding invitations or a Nikkah certificate—and would like your welcome sign to match, feel free to reach out. We’re always happy to make design adjustments so your stationery feels cohesive.
Table Numbers
Table numbers or names work hand-in-hand with your seating plan and are placed on each table to guide guests to their assigned seats. They’re a small detail, but one that’s essential for both organisation and overall styling.
Menus
Whether you choose one menu per table or one per guest, menus are a thoughtful addition that your guests will appreciate as they take their seats.
Personalising menus with the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date adds a special, memorable touch—and they often double as keepsakes from the day.
When Should You Order Your Wedding Day Stationery?
Although it may feel early, it’s a good idea to start thinking about your on-the-day stationery as soon as your invitations have been sent out.
We recommend placing your order at least four weeks before the wedding, or earlier if possible. Getting organised early helps eliminate unnecessary stress in the final weeks leading up to your big day.
